Our Calming Herb Salad for Birds is chock full of adaptogen herbs that supports a calm mood in pet birds, chickens, and pigeons.

What are adaptogen herbs? Sometimes called "Mother Nature's Medicine, adaptogens have been used for centuries to help the body adapt to stress and promote overall well-being. They're especially helpful for our pet birds due to their high nutritional properties.

INGREDIENT  FUNCTION
 Alfalfa
  • Removes toxins from the body
  • Neutralizes acids and purifies the blood
  • Stimulates the appetite
  • Aids in the absorption of proteins, calcium and other essential nutrients
 Chamomile
  • One of natures safest, mildest sedatives 
  • Common avian relaxant
  • Has been shown to kill the yeast fungi Candida albicans, as well as certain staph bacteria
 Lavender
  •  Has been shown to eliminate nervous tension, relieve pain, disinfect the skin, enhance blood circulation, and treat respiratory problems.
 Lemon Balm
  •  Lemon balm is said to soothe symptoms of stress, promote relaxation, and boost mood. May produce a sense of calmness and reduced feelings of alertness.
 Red Clover Flower
  • Red clover supports balanced hormones.  
 Passion Flower
  • Acts as a gentle sedative
  • Hyperactive parrots, or those with compulsive behavior patterns like feather destruction, may benefit from Passion Flower.
 Kava Kava Root
  • Has mild sedative and tranquilizing effects.
  • Can be used to treat feather plucking and hyperactivity.
  • Use with caution: Kava Kava is quite strong, and therefore must be used sparingly.
 Valerian Root
  • Used as a sedative and pain reliever.
  • Stronger than most other herbal sedatives.
  • Use sparingly
