My Bird Enjoys it!

My bird actually enjoys wearing this. She is cold natured, so her heated perch and vest with collar, keep her warmer. She stays busy with the collar, but never bothers the vest.

Product Questions

Bird self-mutilation usually develops over time many of these birds have been introduced to bird collars. This combo is trying to protect your bird from dangerous self-destructive behavior. If your bird is new to collars, construct a bird rehabilitation cage, to maximize your birds safety while introducing this combo.

We try to offer our collars in soothing colors that match their plumage. Our best sellers are light blues, yellows, and grey.

However, there continue to be supply chain issues and many fabric patterns change seasonally, so our color offerings may be limited from time to time.

Birds, equipped with sharp beaks that can crack open nuts and nimble feet, can be quite destructive, posing a challenge in potentially destroying bird collars.

In particular, birds with self-mutilation tendencies can be relentless in trying to remove collars to feed their addictive compulsion.

Recognizing this risk, we strongly advise a proactive stance: reinforce collars with bird-safe bitters and fortify closures with durable moleskin.

To further safeguard against there determined efforts, consider additional measures like having a Saf-T Shield on hand, using over the counter bird calming supplements, or exploring prescription grade medications to calm the compulsions.

Vigilance and creative solutions will help ensure the effectiveness of the collars in curbing self-mutilation behaviors.

High quality products made from superior materials and carefully designed and assembled to fit well and last. Great customer service comes along with that. The prices scared me at first but upon receiving the vest and collar, I feel that the money was well spent. My wife and I were so impressed (so was our picky cockatoo) that I ordered again to keep at home as a spare.

Sure would have helped me if I had instructions for applying the vest. I looked all over the website and watched the video but found no help at all. Poor bird suffered through the learning experience. I really feel badly for her because the vest is so long she can no longer use her feet to feed herself and I need to hand-feed her. She did manage to chew a hole through the Kevlar vest. Not good! All in all though, she has not further mutilated the lesion on her keel bone since applying the clothing.

Hi Jeanie - I'm always available via email and text to support customers. Also, I offer a free book download to help you understand how to help your bird adjust to the collar and provide you with valuable insights in regards to environmental accommodations that you can make to reduce stressors or circumstances that result in plucking and behavioral issues. Following the sizing guide for a Greater Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo, I ordered a large collar. Once secured onto the Cockatoo, I noticed it appeared rather large for her. The collar draped down below her neck and covered part of the wing joint that would allow her to extend her wings, almost constricting the movement of opening the wings. I attempted to make the hole for the neck smaller but have not been very successful. I need to order a smaller size.
