Standard Chew Protection includes a 6-piece side guard set that protects the interior side seams of the carrier.
These guards cover some of the most commonly targeted chew areas and help protect seams, stitching, and mesh from routine nibbling, picking, and exploratory chewing.

Heavy Chewer Protection includes everything found in Standard Chew Protection, plus a wide door protection panel set designed to help keep curious beaks away from the zipper surrounding the carrier door.
Many parrots use their beak like a third foot when climbing in and out of the carrier. Over time, this often leads them directly to the zipper around the door opening—one of the most vulnerable areas of any carrier.
The removable door panels create a protective barrier between your bird and the zipper while still allowing normal operation of the carrier.

Can Chew Protection Be Added Later?
Yes. We recommend that you wipe your bird carrier clean after each use. Inspect the seams and zipper for signs of chewing.
If you discover your bird enjoys chewing the carrier after purchase, Chew Protection can be added at any time.
You can install the guards yourself using a grommet kit, or the carrier can be returned to Celltei for professional installation.
Many owners begin without protection and later upgrade after learning how their bird interacts with the carrier.
Prevention Is Better Than Repair
Chew Protection is designed to help prevent damage, but good carrier habits are equally important.
Don't simply place your bird inside a new carrier and hope for the best. Most parrots benefit from a gradual introduction period where they can explore, climb on, and become comfortable with the carrier before longer trips.
We also recommend inspecting your Pak-O-Bird after each use. Early signs of chewing are usually easy to spot and address before significant damage occurs.
No carrier is completely chew-proof. Even the most durable materials can eventually be damaged by a determined parrot given enough time and opportunity.
