Sizing Information
Since individual birds vary in size, even within species, the most important thing you can do to make sure you order the right size is to measure and weigh your bird using these instructions.
Use a soft fabric measuring tape. Measure all the way around the birds neck, full circle. Then, measure down your birds back, from nape if neck to top of tail.

Support your mild to moderate feather plucking bird with our Velcro Cone Bird Collar. This comfy bird collar deters birds that need a gentle protective cover and that have not yet developed a compulsive, "I can't stop myself from plucking" habit. These thick, soft cone collars give mild to moderate feather plucking birds a more comfortable solution than the harsh plastic collars that were originally designed for dogs. They are soft enough that most birds can still enjoy the activities of daily living that bring your pet joy.
Here's what our customers say:
"We've used many of the veterinarian collars and bands which seem terribly uncomfortable and she lashes out at me when she gets the opportunity. She is quite calm in this collar and I am very impressed!"
Note: Colors may vary from those shown and may change seasonally.
We recommend that you contact your Avian Vet for a full examination to determine the potential cause of your bird's feather plucking behavior. In addition, to protect your bird from plucking feathers use a soft bird collar.
A Neck Collar for Parrots alone will NOT resolve a feather plucking problem. You're encouraged to combine the use of a bird collar with the following:
Since even individual species may vary in size, all sizes are approximate, Click here to measure your bird. Please check with your avian veterinarian to uncover the actual causes of feather plucking and self-mutilation. Always use the Tube Collar Neckband under supervision until you know that your bird tolerates it well.
This Neck Collar is flexible and designed for self-mutilators and severe feather plucking birds or as an entry-level collar to get your bird used to wearing apparel.
Good quality item. However, the recommended 8 inches for an african grey is far too small. Have now ordered the largest size,12 inches.
We needed this after my Cockatoo broke her wing. While she had a cast I got the heavier leather lined collar. It fit and worked great. Unfortunately the wing repair did not work and we had to amputate the wing. The leather lined collar was a bit too heavy so I needed something lighter fast to protect the site. The collar worked perfectly and my 2 is doing well. She seems to like wearing the collar now.
Unfortunately it was a waste of money. My macaw ripped off the Velcro within 10 minutes. Definitely not suitable for large macaws. I tried to email about returning but no response.
The collar was perfect, and came as quickly as I ordered it. Our little Quaker did not like this around her neck, but not due to quality. This collar was great, allowed Bonsai to chew it constantly but did not degrade. Would purchase again if needed.
The collar works pretty well in prevent my Caique from reaching most of the areas he plucks. I did have to add a fringy neck collar to cover the areas this collar allow him to chew. I was a little disappointed the collar was not like the 1st collar pictured on the website with the cascade of more abundant and narrower strips of fleece which the bird could strip mimicing preening. I solved this issue my cutting the sections into narrower stips. My Caique does in fact preen them like they are feathers and is much more accepting of the collar as a result
