Our Parrot Poncho features a Knit Cuff Neck that hugs the neck. It is designed for mild pluckers like birds that pick at their neck and pluck wing top and the feathers under the wing.

This bird collar/bird poncho features a stretchy ribbed knit neck, (like that on a sweatshirt sleeve) that easily slips over the head, but is challenging for your bird to remove.  It can be rolled down to provide four thick layers of neck protection.   he top layer of fringy fleece occupies your birds' chewing needs.

Please give your parrot time to adjust to new apparel.  It will need to get accustomed to the feel of fabric on its feathers and the Parrot Poncho weight.  Training your parrot using the enclosed brochure with help discourage  discourage

We recommend that you contact your Avian Vet for a full examination to determine the potential cause of your bird's feather plucking behavior. In addition, to protect your bird from plucking feathers use a soft bird collar.

A bird collar alone will NOT resolve a plucking problem. By the time most caretakers make the choice to use a bird collar, the problem has likely turned into a habit.  You are encouraged to combine the use of a bird collar with calming supplements, wellness strategies, improved parrot husbandry, resolution of medical problems and behavior modification.

Plucking Blue throat Macaw

I have been using these for years. They are very good but, sometimes we forget how smart our birds are. Mine can take a Velcro collar off in under 10 seconds! The new stretchy poncho was the answer to that. For now. Just wish I could stop her from this habbit.

Works great for stubborn parrot

Got this because my eclectus was self mutilating. It was quite long the way it originally came and he kept tripping on it so I had to trim it down to about a quarter of the length before I felt safe with him wearing it unsupervised. I feel like it’s kind of expensive for what it is but his wound has healed after a week and a half of wearing it so in my opinion it’s worth the cost.

So far so good my bare eyed cockatoo is unable to reach his chest area and do anymore damage to himself, he's done being mad at me for putting it on him...

Not only do I buy this product to keep my Moluccan Cockatoo plucking at her chest but everywhere we go she looks like a little princess with her collar on!

This collar has helped tremendously. We have a Galah cockatoo who after wearing the collar for approximately 3 weeks is now growing feathers again. I liked that the actual collar is soft around the neck so it allows the bird to move to still preen and eat easily but does still cover her enough. We did have to trim up the front of the collar as it hung just a bit too long and she was stepping on it. Otherwise, a great product, I highly recommend.
