Fringy Soft Neck Collar for Feather Pickers

  • Overview

    • This soft neck collar for birds features 12 layers+ of thick, fluffy fleece to support severe feather plucking birds from reaching preferred plucking areas.
    • The semi-stiff insert creates the structure for added protection.
    • Less restrictive that cone collars, your bird can enjoy more of its normal activities of daily living.
    • NOW with strong DuraGrip® industrial strength hook & loop closure.

Support your severe feather plucking bird or self-mutilator with our Fringy Soft Neck Collar. This innovative bird collar gently restricts neck movement with a stiff, soft structure, thereby protecting wings, the vent, feet, and legs from injury.  These thick Soft Neck Collars give severe feather plucking birds and self-mutilators the added protection against the compulsive habit, while still allowing for most activities of daily living that bring your pet joy.

Stack this Fringy Parrot Soft Neck Collar with our basic bird cone collars even more protection.

We've developed the Fringy Soft Neck Collar to be a minimally restrictive alternative for severe feather plucking birds and self-mutilators. The height, thickness, and stiffness of our Fringy Neck Collar make it harder for your bird to get to its extremities.  Most birds can eat, climb, and play in this collar.

    Here's what our customers say:

  • More Info

We recommend that you contact your Avian Vet for a full examination to determine the potential cause of your bird's feather plucking behavior. In addition, to protect your bird from plucking feathers use a soft bird collar.

A Neck Collar for Parrots alone will NOT resolve a feather plucking problem. You're encouraged to combine the use of a bird collar with the following:

    • Consult with your avian veterinarian to determine if a prescription-grade psychotropic medication that supports compulsive behavior may benefit
    • Watch Cockatude 14 to educate yourself on this disorder
    • Learn and institute wellness & parrot husbandry strategies
    • Resolution of medical problems
    • Learn and practice behavior modification for feather plucking birds.

Since even individual species may vary in size, all sizes are approximate, Click here to measure your bird.  Please check with your avian veterinarian to uncover the actual causes of feather plucking and self-mutilation.  Always use the Tube Collar Neckband under supervision until you know that your bird tolerates it well.

This Neck Collar is flexible and designed for self-mutilators and severe feather plucking birds or as an entry-level collar to get your bird used to wearing apparel.
