Materials: Medium-weight lycra fabric, heavy-duty thread, stiffener, NBR/PVC foam insert, industrial strength hook & loop.

The Huggle collar is one of our most robust and protective neck-collar styles. It was designed to be worn on primarily bald birds, seriously plucked birds, and self-mutilating birds.

These bird collars support healing of:

    • The top & underside of the wings
    • The vent area
    • Feet & legs
    • Chest & back

The Huggle has a thick foam insert wrapped in soft, stretchy lycra. It wraps around the neck, restricting neck movement, and supporting compulsive chewers as they embark on their road to recovery.

Huggle’s Bird Collar is soft and comfortable to wear, unlike traditional plastic collars. Best of all, it won’t affect your bird’s peripheral vision or his ability to eat and drink.

    UnRuffledRx Customer Reviews
I Love this product. It’s the first collar I’ve found that actually worked to help my Cockatoo Molly’s Plucking (Her plucking started unfortunately after she had a traumatic experience at a veterinary clinic). I use this in conjunction with little shirts I make her it’s helping quite a bit!!

Putting The Collar On: This collar closes with an industrial-grade Duragrip® hook and loop that allows for a more comfortable, more customizable fit. Some persistent chewers may be able to open the hook & loop. You might want to spray the collar with a bitter mist to help deter chewing.

Please be advised: Birds that habitually pluck or mutilate themselves and those that have had this habit for a long time need more training and time to adapt to a bird collar. While most people experience success with our bird collars we do not guarantee that a bird will adapt to a bird collar, that they'll like it, or that they can't remove the collar.

Huggles are made from an FDA approved foam insert.  Thickness refers to how thick the foam is, as these collars function by limiting range of motion of the neck.

Plan to support collar acceptance with these strategies:

    1. Spray the bird collar with a bird-safe bitter spray like Bitter Apple Or King's No Chew.

    2. After placing the collar on the bird, stabilize the hook and loop closure by placing a strip of moleskin or duct tape on the underside where the two sides overlap.

HOW Bird Collars Help

UnRuffledRx Soft Bird Collars are the first line of defense for stopping feather plucking because they interrupt the plucking cycle. The more severe your bird’s plucking, the thicker and stiffer the collar it will need. Most birds need time to adjust to a bird collar.

Bird collars are part of a range of wellness products that support feather pluckers. They work while you work on improving your pet's diet, improve parrot husbandry, and start using behavior modification.

How do I collar train my bird?

If your bird is new to wearing a collar you'll have to train it to both accept the collar and not chew up the collar. Clicker training is the solution of choice. Watch my YouTube Video here: https://youtu.be/ubm2BCNH5LE

How do I choose the best collar style for my bird?
What size do I need?

On the order page, look for the orange colored SIZE GUIDE right by the product price.

Most collars come in 5-7 sizes based on the birds weight in grams. If you don't have a gram scale, you can purchase one online. Amazon tends to be the most affordable place. You don't need a specialized bird scale, it just has to weigh in grams.

Your avian vet should have a weight on file, too.
