    About This Collar:

    These collars help with:

    • Light chest & back plucking
    • Light shoulder plucking
    • Senior or health compromised feathered friends

Size: The Parrot Poncho hangs shorter than other cone collars due to the neck construction. For instance, the medium hangs down about 3" from the top of the wings.

Style: The Parrot Poncho is one of our lightest, collars, featuring 2 layers of soft, thick fleece. It's designed for mild feather pluckers. That is birds that haven’t developed an obsessive habit yet. These birds only have small patches of baldness.

Our Parrot Poncho has a base made from one layer of fleece. The top layer is a matching pattern, cut into slices for chewing pleasure. Why not? After all, wouldn't you rather your bird chew on the top layer of a bird collar than itself?

The Parrot Poncho is soft and comfortable to wear, unlike traditional plastic collars. Best of all, it doesn’t impair your bird’s peripheral vision or his ability to eat and drink.

Washing: The Parrot Poncho is easy to clean and maintain. Just wash in mild soapy water and lay flat to dry.

Putting On:  This bird collar has a stretchy knit neck similar to the cuff of a sweatshirt. Stretch the neck out and slip the collar over your bird's head.

Please know that feather plucking birds, especially those that have been plucking for a few years may chew up or outwit a bird collar. Plan to support acceptance with patient training and a bitter-tasting spray.

HOW Bird Collars Help

UnRuffledRx Soft Bird Collars are the first line of defense for stopping feather plucking because they interrupt the plucking cycle. The more severe your bird’s plucking, the thicker and stiffer the collar it will need. Most birds need time to adjust to a bird collar.

Bird collars are part of a range of wellness products that support feather pluckers. They work while you work on improving your pet's diet, improve parrot husbandry, and start using behavior modification.

How do I collar train my bird?

If your bird is new to wearing a collar you'll have to train it to both accept the collar and not chew up the collar. Clicker training is the solution of choice. Watch my YouTube Video here: https://youtu.be/ubm2BCNH5LE

How do I choose the best collar style for my bird?
What size do I need?

On the order page, look for the orange colored SIZE GUIDE right by the product price.

Most collars come in 5-7 sizes based on the birds weight in grams. If you don't have a gram scale, you can purchase one online. Amazon tends to be the most affordable place. You don't need a specialized bird scale, it just has to weigh in grams.

Your avian vet should have a weight on file, too.
