It took awhile for my maluccan to get used to it … had to modify it a bit so he can lift his foot up to eat & climb . Was dissapointed when I ordered this one ( ordered 2 in the past ) I accidentally forgot to enter the coupon code & immediately e mailed the 3 times asking if they could apply it… no response whatsoever.. very disappointed in costumer support .

Keeps her busy for a while. Nothing will hold up forever to her beak, but this is the best product we have found.

My feathered friend wasn’t plucking but he was picking at his feet and turned them into a mess. He received the cone of shame at the emergency room. After that I began looking for better alternatives. Boy am I glad and so is he, that we found you. His whole demeanor changed the moment we put it on. When we brought him into the vet for his follow up visit, the vet was impressed with the collar. I passed along your website to him. Dino and I thank you for this product that gives his feet a chance to heal while allowing him to climb, drink and eat normally.

I had an acrylic cone but it was alot of work to get on and off. Then I started making my own out of cardboard so he had something else to chew. He only plucks around breeding season. This is so easy to put on and off. He adapted very well since it was not foreign to him.
Rosemary C.
The bottom layer could be stiffer. Angel works around it to get to her shoulder and wing where she's plucking.
Deborah A.
Despite the size it is simply too heavy for my quaker.

Sarah only had the fringe collar on for a few days, so far so good. He is unable to reach the sore he created on his wing. I originally ordered the LG & he was able to reach his wing. Ordered the XL & it was much better. He’s adjusted pretty quick . Tried many collars but I think this one will do the trick .
Jenniffer B.
As you can see he is not a fan although I believe that this will help do to he can not reach his tail or his wings so far we also changed his diet for the better keeping our fingers crossed thank you for all your help in ordering this for our Rico

Kahlan is so much happier in this collar and too cute in it too!

I originally purchased a neck collar but my bird was able to get underneath it to pluck so I ordered a collar that came with protection for his body as well. He isn't too happy but it sure beats having him wear the plastic cone that they put on him at the vet. He wasn't able to sleep comfortably in the plastic cone. Now he moves around better and sleeps under his blanket every night with no issue. I'm very glad that I made this purchase and I definitely recommend this product to anyone!
Christina M.
The product itself is amazing and so adorable.. but she still finds it necessary to bite through and tear up the felt fringes.. it’s been just over a week and 1/2 of the fringes are gone. What do you do then?
RITA *.
Haven’t used it yet .. my Moluccan has an appt with the vet to sedate & remove old collar & put the cone fringed one on…. Really hope this one works…. Tried 3 different collars & he was still able to mutilate himself. Keeping my fingers crossed.

A metal snap at the outer edge woukd be helpful to stop Mccaw from getting through it so rapily.

I have tried everything to stop Sassafras from self mutilating. She was attacked by a Macaw and that started her on the road to plucking and mutilating under her left wing. It seemed like everything I did, it made it worse. Until this Fringy Collar! This is new and she now cannot get around it to get to her wing. It's been 3 days now so far really works! I went ahead and ordered two more Fringy collars to make sure I have them on hand. She is only 1.5 years old, I'm hoping when everything heals and feathers grow back She will be back to normal. If not I have the Fringy collars!

My grey chews her wing and tail feathers as a coping mechanism. After trying everything else, the vet recommended a collar. I started with a poncho, but she could still get to her feathers once they were longer and she could get inside the neck area and completely plucked her neck bare (not something she had done before). I liked the poncho for the lightweight aspect, but she needed something more. I went with the fringe cone collar and had the vet put it on to make sure it was done properly. Sadly, she was able to get her beak between the Velcro and shred it within the first 12 hours of having it. It was at the bottom of her cage by morning. Once she created a weak spot and knew what to do, it was all over and there was no keeping it on her. After 3 days of stressing her out over and over putting it back on, I gave up. It was causing more stress for both of us then it was solving. The quality and concept are fantastic but there needs to be something more protecting the fastening area in my opinion. It is simply the weak spot in the design and any intelligent bird will find it quickly. Honestly that is the only downfall I found, but it is unfortunately a big one because the collar is no good to me if I cannot keep it on my bird. Another $50 wasted.

At first the neck was too small I texted them they called me back the same day. She told me I could trim the neck which I did and so far it has worked better than any I ever bought. I do tape over the Velcro part just to make it harder for her to get at. After the first 2 days she hardly even bites at it.

I’m very confused about the measurements, because I got a small size collar for my sun conure, but the plastic bag that it came said xs and I Don’t Know if I got the wrong size, because the neck part is extremely small for my sun conure, sadly I didn’t have the change to tried it because it arrived kind of late for my emergency ( my bird passed away 2 days after the purchase by a deadly condition that was causing the feather plucking and the package arrived 3 days after of the purchase ) I will save it for any future bird I have but I’m my opinion the small size neck only would fit a parakeet, I will need to cut it or something if I get a bigger size bird again like my sun conure. Maybe I got the wrong size? My bad…

My goffen cockatoo started plucking about 2 years ago and hasn’t stopped! This collar was the exact prescription to help her stop.

Thanks to Diane my bird is getting the right nutrients and the right food. She appeared to be healing very well and the plucking subsided however after a week or so she was back to plucking another area. It was a full body molt. Extremely stressful for the bird. I have been using feather up Hastings bird food and vitae z mist. He seemed to have positive results but the plucking continues to some degree. Diane was super helpful. I read that if poop sticks to the Birds butt that it can be a sign that the bird needs to see a vet do you concur with this opinion. Thanks for all the support. Tommy in Mobile Alabama

Diane was great about taking care of our return. The products are of high quality and I can see where it would certainly help a bird plucker.
Dave S.
I put the supplements in her water and sprinkle the herbs on her food, but she still plucks when I take off her collar. I have been spraying her with the anti-plucking spray and hope that that will make a difference.

Charlie, our Rose Breasted Cockatoo, started self mutilating himself in his wing joint so much that his beak would be covered in blood. Our vet checked Charlie’s blood work and everything was fine. The vet said this is behavioral. I purchased our first fringe cone collar over a year ago. This cone saved his life. He doesn’t mind having it on and he can still eat and drink comfortably. I highly recommend this cone for parrots.

She has to be tricked into taking Feather up in her banana or food, but the collar is working well. We have lap time every night and I left her preen without the collar every other day.
She does chew the felt around the velcro in the neck and "Duck Tape" works well to balance the collar from the weight of the velcro and to protect her from getting into chewing the velcro. SHE LOOKS GORGEOUS WITH ALL.OF HER FEATHERS!!!
Em C
Very thankful for this collar!
Our feather picking African gray begins self mutilation every moulting season when tail feathers appear. This collar allows us to stop the behavior immediately, keeping the bird safe and out of the vet's office. She can easily get around the plastic collars. This collar is easy to put on, and the ruffles keep the bird occupied. We do have to get a new one every year, because she eventually works her way through the Velcro.

So Far So Good!
My M2 is a rescue parrot who was a plucker since I got her 13 years ago. It was never an issue til she injured her leg with a toy chain and chewed her leg open. Got that healed and she started an injury to the skin on her shoulder. It's been a tough go because the hard plastic collars with permanent disks were too much weight on her and caused the injured area to swell from her bumping around. If I gave her a break from the vet apparatus she would pick at the scan and open the skin again. I purchased a basic soft collar but it wasn't enough. However the fringy soft collar seems to be working just fine because it hides the injured area in a way that is enabling the skin to heal. This was my last resort and it truly IS a lifesaver for us! She seems to tolerate it well. I use it with the basic collar.

Best yet.
We tried all the styles offered for my African gray. A determined, life-long pluck-er, she is able to get her wings over the unruffled styles and reach neck feathers with the slip on style. This FRINGY COLLAR is stiff enough on the bottom layer that she rarely gets her wing over it. The ruffle around the neck protects chest, vent and tail areas. She is getting used to the weight of it and the amount of feather regrowth is impressive.

best yet. getting feathers in areas that have not had feathers in years.
Keko is an African Gray, 35 years old and a life-long picker. After years of effort with the vet, I had given up. With the plastic collars the feathers grew back, but she sat like a toy bird. I could have a miserable bird with feathers or a happy naked bird. A couple years ago I found another brand of poncho which helped some. this fringy collar is helping more than anything else we've used. It's stiff enough to protect wing feathers and the ruffles keep her away from chest and tail feathers. She has no trouble eating or drinking and moves about to play with her toys easily. I do have to watch the velcro. It always moves to the front. She'll open it when her can. The first one held up a month before the velcro was showing wear. this second one looks like it may last 6-8 weeks. all the chewing is around the velcro-I have a few ideas to the to refurbish the chewed areas to get more wear.

Saved my baby... thankful ❤
I purchased the fringy collar for severe pluckers- but my Goffin Cockatoo was not plucking, but severely chewed her chest down to the bone. She was not afraid of this collar after just two attempts to wear it. I showed her the collar, let her hear the tear of the Velcro. She just had surgery to heal the chewed chest and is still wearing her collar. It has saved the stitches so far. Rosie, is very precious to me and I am so thankful for your product. As of this moment she has chewed the collar up quite a bit, she got to the Velcro! But it is serving it's main purpose- no chest chewing! I will recommend this collar to other bird family ❤

Fringy collar
Cherie (G2) wears her collar all the time in combination with a plastic collar underneath the fringes which nicely help also to hide the plastic nut and bolt which closes it (she is very adept at opening closures -- velcro, snaps, nuts and bolts, etc). Very mechanically inclined. She needs to wear it all the time as she relentlessly rips out feathers (it's a habit). This morning she had a bath and afterwards she was too fast for me and rip, there went a chest feather…

Best collar
I have an umbrella cockatoo that is a feather picker and with this collar she has stopped and her feathers are coming back in. Thanks

Stays on the longest!
Alex my African Grey takes great pride in how fast she can escape her collars. This one lasted through our vacation! It was off the next morning. We put a light no Velcro collar over the top and it lasts for weeks.

Great Collars!!!
The collars are fantastic the size was perfect for my Moluccan he used to really struggle with the plastic collar and is able to maneuver around the cage and get to the food and water bowls with ease.

Fringy Collars work great!
We use the fringy collars at SEAVS post surgically for avian patients when it is critical they do not chew open their incision. Because this collar covers a large area, we are even able to use it after toe procedures and only the most persistent patients can get past the collar.
The clients love that these collars are soft and come in pretty colors and we don't see the "rub" injuries that we sometimes get with the heavy plastic collars.

This works great!

Fringy collar on African Grey
My African Grey hated his plastic collar but he is very cozy and loves his fringy collar.

Different than expected
I love how this collar is made, and I love the multiple layers of fleece fringe. I wish more collars had this feature. Unfortunately, the neck opening is smaller than expected. I know I could trim it, but in addition the structural material isn’t as firm as I hoped. Not rigid enough for my bird. I’ll be exchanging it for the stiff leather model.

Cringy collar
Great collar. Molly has down feathers, no hole in skin and some real feathers. Great color.

Perfect Fit
I ordered a large for my citron cockatoo. It fits perfectly. The velcro is very strong, but I secured the bottom with a binder clip to ensure that he wouldn't be able to finagle the velcro closure. He can move around easily but cannot reach his legs, belly and vent. Amazing quality and very fast service! I am extremely happy with my purchase.

Second collar
I have a conure who bites her toes After going to two vets w no help I ordered a collar which he wore for several months. Then he was able to go without the collar for a long time until she lates an egg and became nervous again. She’s fine now with her new collar. Expect we can remove it soon. Expensive but worth it. Very well made

Wonderful Product
It was so wonderful I had to buy another one within a week.. I have an umbrella cockatoo that has just acquired feather plucking disorders...

Amazing with room for improvements
This product is amazing. I have an african grey which pluck her breast, legs and wings. Biggest problem was she had a pretty big wound near the vent area which she continued to destroy more and more. I have tried a lot of different homemade solutions and collars from the vet. Nothing helped like this collar 2 month and she almost have full feather and the wound is gone.
The collar is very comfortable for the bird (size M). Only downside is the velcro closure which she found out very fast. I managed to fix that problem with tenso tape while applied for extra strenght. I have bought 3 pieces since they get quite soft after some time. A stronger closure for that smart grey bird and the product deserve 5 stars no doubt!

Perfect Fit and works so well. It works so well.

Much more comfortable than the hard plastic ones
These collars are extremely easy for me to get on and off my bird. The soft fabric is so much more comfortable for him to wear than the hard plastic ones from the vet. This makes it easier for the bird to eat, perch, climb, and do normal activities.
One recommendation would be the installation of an additional closure on each end, perhaps a snap, that makes it harder for the bird to remove. The only problem with the collar being easy for me to remove, is that the Velcro makes it easy for him to take the collar off too.
It was great to have it to help my bird recover from a wing injury, since he could not reach the wing to damage it while in recovery.

Best parrots collards ever
I have tried many different types of collars (leather, leather with foam) the unruffedrx felt collars are the best. They are light so they do not damage new feather growth and do not impair the bird mobility, they are comfortable, washable (cold water only) and fun looking. I got a jungle color size large (Fringy Bird Collar for Severe Feather Picking Parrots) for my eclectus and it works great! The best part is that you can reduce the diameter of the collar or some of the neck felt fabric to meet your bird's need and allow for a perfect fit by just cutting the collar.

Sturdy fringy collar
My bird is a small for the breed Senegal. I
Bought a size small. I liked that I could trim out the neck for a custom fit. It's a study skirt that holds up to her beak but she is a foot chewer and had no problem getting her feet up around it. For my bird, a wider flare to the skirt or a bit longer skirt might work better.

Excellent Quality and Fit
The fit was perfect for my Goffin and the products were very well made. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to use them because my Goffin passed the day after I received the products. I plan on donating the products to a bird rescue group - where I'm sure they'll get lots of use.

Fringe Bird collar for severe plucking
Absolutely love it! Even my Vet loved it so much he wanted his manager to order some for his Bird and Animal Hospital. My bird actually loves it. After surgery he destroyed his e-collar in 2 days. This product is very strong. My Bet told me to leave it on my goffin cockatoo for 3 more weeks until he heals and obviously if the problem persists I will continue to use. I give this product 5stars if it had more stars I would give it more. It is that wonderful!!!
Karen Bailey
Good
I love this collar it works great and is comfortable for my bird. My only complaint is that the stitching and thread could be stronger and more reinforced. It's too easy for her to pull the stitching apart and the Velcro closure off so quickly which is costly for me since I have to buy another more often. I realise that it will happen eventually but If it took her longer to do it it would be the perfect collar. Other then that I love it

This collar has been a life saver. I have tried a lot of collars and this design is constructed perfectly. My avian vet was impressed with it. It has saved my moluccan Cockatoo life. His chest feathers are all most filled in. I feel the collar comforts him.
Thank you so much.
